a third of my life

my stress free fridays are usually spent photo shooting for imatioθiki. 

but the last couple of weeks have been so hectic, i gave myself some time off and decided to take the boat, do some gymnastics and become a tourist in my own city.

i grabbed my camera and beared the almost summer heat and took my dad for a walk in plaka and some much needed traditional food and wine and mr. mimis' tavern.

great news coming up. holidays. easter. sea. sun. yet another island to visit and perhaps a photo exhibition in lovely syros. hopefully.

life in the pension era. part one

 

i decided to find out how life looks like after you've stopped working. so a friend told me i should drop by his gymnastics class held at the pensioner's town center the other day. 
the joy and energy these people have is indescribable. i was so impressed i wrote a piece on my experience, which can be found here.

syros / vol. 03 / the sea and the ouzo

i think it's the first time i dove into the sea this early.

yes mid april and i am swimming (and freezing a little bit, but i will get the hold of it in no time).

here's some more beautiful syros light. some ouzo in my glass and a very happy alexia (my sister) after a day spent by the sea.

i got so fascinated by the afternoon light, it seems i've been behind my computer screen forever - missing out all that fun.

do you have a special place where your mind goes completely blank and all you can do is take in the light and relax to your fullest? that's syros for me. 

usually i am this person who never stops doing stuff and won't be standing still for long, but whenever i set foot on the island i become a whole new me. like someone is injecting valium into my body without me knowing it. 

this is a small tour of our syros garden, where plants are pretty much everywhere.

in abandoned structures that used to be shelters for animals.

 they co-exist with other species.

they are all preppy in their pots.

they take over the road.

and the house as well.

but of course there's always good company to have breakfast with.

and impromptu sculptures.

a workshop in syros

this weekend was spend at syros, relaxing after a hectic week and opening my horizons to wonderful things

imatioθiki star tind gave a marvelous demonstration of how silkscreen printing is done and students were left speechless.

small sample of what happened can be seen here - i admit i wanted to stay there longer than i actually did, but the sea was too good to resist (yes, swimming season has officially started) and fresh fish and ouzo were too delicious to say no to.
